How I Remember EVERYTHING using Microsoft OneNote

Preface-Microsoft’s Automatic Upgrade to Windows 10

Jeff shared a situation Microsoft announced this past week. Not only is the Windows 10 upgrade happening automatically when Windows 7 and 8.1 computers have Windows Update to automatically install Recommended updates, but the option to stop the upgrade has changed to, fundamentally, force the upgrade to take place anyway. Although, I strongly believe the Windows 10 upgrade is worth doing, it should be your individual choice to do so. Therefore, here is another app that removes the Windows 10 upgrade icon from the lower right of the screen and keeps Windows 10 from trying to install itself without you taking the action. The program is called Never 10by Steve Gibson and works quickly and easily.

Microsoft OneNote – A Truely Great Program

OneNote 3

Jeff shared how the Microsoft OneNote program, which he has been using since 2003, has allowed him to rely on the program to remember everything he cannot any longer.

The presentation answers these and many more questions:

  • What is OneNote anyway?
  • What can one use OneNote for?
  • Is OneNote complicated to use?
  • Can one install OneNote on a Mac, PC, iPhone or Android?
  • Is it easy to find notes I’ve written before?

Some of the best features of OneNote are:

  • It is FREE
  • It’s easy to search for earlier notes.
  • It can be used on the Internet as well as other devices.

Jeff shared the progress of Windows 10 since its release July 28, 2015 until now. Microsoft just published a confirmation that the Free upgrade to Windows 10 will expire July 29, 2016. If someone has Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, then they can still upgrade for FREE before the end of July.

Jeff answered the following questions:

  • If I upgrade now, will my printer, monitor or scanner still work?
  • If all I need to do is update my printer “driver” how do I do this?
  • Since Windows 10 makes the Microsoft Edge browser the default, can I still use Firefox or Chrome where I have all my bookmarks?
  • Is upgrading to Windows 10 hard?
  • Is upgrading to Windows 10 required?
  • Might it be cheaper to simply buy a new computer if my current one is old and running slow?
